Google has 13 data centers around the world (7 in the Americas, 3 in Asia and 3 in Europe) running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it’s fascinating to see how the world’s biggest Internet company is powered. I have earlier posted some limited details of Google data centers in Google Efficient Data Centers and Google Hamina data center details, but now some rare images of Google data centers became available.
Yesterday Google released a massive gallery of pictures of their Data Centers around the world. The Google Data Center Gallery is titled ”Where the Interenet Lives”. Images have servers, technology and personnel in the interior of the centers presented in an artistic way. Photos are taken by a Chinese photographer artist Connie Zhou, who specializes in architecture and interior photography.
The photos can also seen in A Photo Tour of Google’s Data Centers Around the World web page if you prefer all photos on one page instead of browsing through gallery picture by picture.
You can also take a walk through a Google data center using street view technology. Look the following Explore Google Data center on google map street view video to get the idea what you get.
Reg reader described the whole experience as “like a boring version of Doom”, and I can pretty much agree this description. But can try the walk through yourself to make your own decision of it is fascinating or boring.
