USB-C: The USB Type C is the latest USB connector type especially for portable devices. The new USB version offers higher data rates (up to 20 Gbps) and greater power transfer potential (up to 100W). According to forecasting agencies, more than two billion USB C port devices would be delivered by 2020. The article article has design information for application of USB-C. Also included is information on development programs, test cards, and test and measurement equipment.
TSN: Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) is a new standard that makes it easier to provide real-time information reliably via an optimized Ethernet network. TSN consists of IEEE 802 Ethernet standards that are defined by the IEEE TSN team. The set of standard contains improved versions of current as well as entirely new technology. TSN reaches determinism with time synchronization, traffic scheduling, traffic prioritization as well as optimized processing in network switches and network cards. TSN can be guaranteed timing of critically scheduled communication. This will enables all traffic categories and multiple applications convergence into one network.
PoE: With PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, an Ethernet cable can carry power in addition to data. PoE can supply operating voltage to PoE compatible networked devices, such as a WLAN base station, an IP camera, a VOIP phone or IoT device. Current IEEE standards can handle maximum power up to 30 watts and non-standardized solutions up to 60 watts. This power is already enough to enable IoT LED lighting to be powered through the data cabling. New IEEE 802.3bt standard that will be completed in 2018 will increase maximum power to almost 100 watts. The new IEEE802.3bt standard will increase the available power for the first time by using all four wire pairs in Ethernet cable.
IPv6: IPv6 is a new Internet protocol version that has been coming soon for nearly 20 years. A new protocol has been introduced because lack of free IPv4 addresses. There are currently about twice as many devices on the Internet as the current address of the IPv4 protocol supports, and the number of devices is expected to double in the next few years. IPv6 promises to solve the clutter but it’s just one small thing in the big picture. The IPv6 protocol is a necessary technology to be able to use the new opportunities promised by the 5G network and IoT. IPv6 offers the ability to flexibly connect between IoT devices without compulsory cloud connection.
