: : I let this message to be here (not delete at this time) because there has been earilier discussion on this type of devices. The article described reference to http://www.epanorama.net/wwwboard/messages/1820.html
: : so this can be considered as an answer to an earlier question and thus provides information related the the ongoing discussion.

: : It seems that jammer devices are available.
: : What is a question mark is how legal is to use this kind of device. So what what is the legal status of this kind of device in different countries ?

: : This kind of device is clearly a radio tranmitter. They generally need permits to use unless they are special devices defined to be license free (typically type approved devices operating at license free bands or cellular phones).

: : This kind of device sounds to me like an illegal radio transmitter which interferes with the licensed radio service (cellular phone service).
: : In general operating this kind of device sounds like a major crime: operating illegal transmitter and interfering with radi communications.

: : Are there some special rules which makes operating this kind of device legal or is using this kind of device illegal ?

: : This is a thing which I would like to get cleared out. More discussion on this is wellcome.

: The page http://starportuk.com/21c.htm talks about some other cellular jamming device (seems to be quite similar). It seems to indicate that this kinf of devices would not be legal in UK. Same thing seems to apply to rest of the Europe (at least countried within EU).

: Here is a quote from that web page:

: "Q. Is it illegal to buy a Wave-Shield in the UK?

: A. No, it is not illegal to purchase or own a Wave-Shield in the UK. The problem is in actually using one, even though the Wave-Shield RF signal doesn't penetrate brick walls easily. If you are caught using a cellular phone jammer in the UK you could be open to prosecution. We have our jammers built and tested outside of the UK where we are not in breech of any law. HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS OUR POLICY NOT TO SUPPLY THIS PRODUCT TO ANY EU DESTINATION INCLUDING THE UK. ORDERS RECEIVED IN CONTRAVENTION TO THIS POLICY WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY REJECTED."
