I'm having the same problem. I placed a tick on the digital only box but when i use the AC3 plug the sound only comes out the front speakers and when i use the PCM plug, rear speakers work and nothing else. Quad mode seems to work but I get crackling noise. If there are any fixes please help.
: gee not sure about it man...... i dont really understand your problem... i have a friend that has the same problem too... he couldnt get his surround channels to work... but then after i tried setting the system to Dolby Digital and putting a tick on the "use digital sound" in the sound card menu.....it worked just fine...

: : Help, I cant get my surround to work. Using the diagnostic button on the back of the sub all channels work fine. Connecting to the Audigy 2 card, however, only the front two speakers work and during the SB diagnostics the front right one says both "Front right" and later "Rear right" while the front left one says "Front left" and then later "rear left". I took two of my older computer speakers and put them in the surround jack in the audigy 2 and the system surround then works just fine, so it is my assumption the problem lies somewhere within the altec speakers.
