Oh dear, I tried the L200 and also a small dc-dc convertor with current limit with no success.

The nokia phones seem to be able to detect if you are pluging in a nokia charger or not.

On testing my mains charger for my nokia 3310, it floats with no load at about 9.5 volts. When the phone is plugged in the voltage drops to around 3 to 4 volts while at the same time there are pulses of current being drawn (can't be measured properly because my multimeter will not sample and hold).

I have even tried fooling the phone by using a 10 ohm resistor (will give approx 3.7v @ 355mA)in series with a varible dc supply (3.5 to 9v), the phone was still not having it !

I stopped myself from just plugging the phone straight into my varible dc supply to see if it works as I treasure my phone too much.

Anyway after all this messing about I decided to look in my trusty Maplin Electronics catalogue to see how much it would be to buy a car charger for a nokia phone..........guess what ??? they sell them for under £6......... and for that price I would say sod the circuit and just purchase one !!!
