I was planning to build a gasoline powered racecar (2 ft long, 1 ft wide)
It is going to be powered by a weed eater engine. I wanted to control the throttle by using an old RC car, replacing the drive motor with a relay, so i can power more current-demanding things.
I thought about using a self-wound solenoid, but it didnt work. The throttle cable comes out of the plastic engine cover, andout to a plastic thing which you hold. would using a dc motor to wind up fishing string attached to a lever, which pulls the throttle cable work? The motor would get hot. The power source is about .5-1A, 6V. There will be a cheap DC motor used as a generator.
And what about the Ignition of the engine? Would that cause too much interferece for the race-car to work properly?
And, one last thing: if the RC receiver lost proper signal level with the transmitter, I want another medium sized motor ( which will be attached to the driveline ) to "short-out", slowing down the Race car.
is this too hard to do?
My ideas were having a Transistor be Off when there is +6v fed to the relay. When the power Cuts off from the relay, The resistance from the relay lets the transistor SHort the motor.
