Find an actuator for car cruise control, this should easily be adaptable to control your throttle.
: And what about the Ignition of the engine? Would that cause too much interferece for the race-car to work properly?
Diccicult to tell, you could try putting suppressors on the ignition coil.
: And, one last thing: if the RC receiver lost proper signal level with the transmitter, I want.
You can get safty cut outs for RC equipment, the best thing to do would be to have a relay with it's contatcs in series with the power feed to the coil. When the radio signal drops out for more than a fraction of a second the relay will be (energised, released) and the power will be cut to the coil, thus stopping the engine.
Good Luck
