: I live in England and have recently purchased a video online from america and it is NTSC format. How do i play it on my VCR.

If your VCR does not play it properly, then you
most propably need a new VCR. For the VCR to
play NTSC tape your VCR must support NTSC video
format. This means that your VCR must be one
of the followign possibilities:
1. A VCR made for NTSC standard (a VCR from USA)
2. A multi-format VCR which supports many video formats
3. A modern PAL standard VCR with built-in "NTSC playback on PAL TV" option in it

To be able to use the the options 1 and 2 above
your TV must also support NTSC format.
For the option 3 most normal PAL TVs will work
nicely.

: Will I need an adaptor or something like that.

If your VCR does not support NTSC video format,
no external pluggable adapter will help.

: Also is there a lead i can buy for the VCR to the TV to manage this? I would be very grateful of a reply. Thanks.

Go to a shop which has a good selection of VCRs
and look for VCR which has "NTSC playback" listed
in the feature list. The "better" VCR models
from some manufacturers have this option,
check what your local shops have available.
