: Hi Dan.
: Swap the memory simms location from paired banks and retry looking for changes.

Hi Miguel, I have already tested switching the positions of bith my 256 MEG simms (say, a and b) and observed that:
1- when a and b are in slots 1 and 2 I get noise
2- when a is alone in slot 1, I get much less noise, sometimes none
3- when b is alone in slot 1, I get noise
4- when b is in slot 1 and a in slot 2, I get "page fault" errors that abort just about every program I may be trying to run.
I have a third RAM slot on my mainboard, can memory simms be placed in any slot?
I have read how damaging static electricity can be to memory (http://computermemoryupgrade.mysuperpc.com/simm_memory_upgrade_tutorial_simm.shtml)
Does this tell you anything?
Thanks
Dan
