I solved it pretty much by using http://akismet.com/ service to filter out spam.
It is worth every penny spent in it.

Now, switch-mode bipolar transistors almost always need a resistor in the base to reduce the load on the driving component, but a field-effect transistor such as the 2N7000 can operate without such a resistor. So even though the 2N7000 is a bit more expensive than a bipolar, getting rid of the resistor more than makes up for the difference in cost.

The conclusion appears inescapable: Unless you can enforce adequate ESD procedures, you would be advised to avoid the use of unprotected FET devices such as the 2N7000.
