great article on web fonts! i've been dealing with the limitations of web typography for years now, and it's frustrating when you're stuck with just a handful of "safe" fonts that everyone has installed. the difference between designing something in photoshop with beautiful custom fonts and then having to fall back to arial or georgia on the actual website is always disappointing.

it's good to see that things are finally changing. i remember when we used to do those image replacement techniques just to get decent typography on websites - things like sifr, which was clunky but better than nothing. the @font-face css property has been a game changer, though browser support was spotty for a while.

these days i use google fonts quite a bit for projects, and the selection has gotten much better. still, there's something to be said for having more control over font loading and performance. would be interested to hear what tools and services you recommend for implementing web fonts effectively, especially for performance-conscious sites.

Open-Dyslexic

OpenDyslexic is a new open sourced font created to increase readability for readers with dyslexia.

Your brain can sometimes do funny things to letters. OpenDyslexic tries to help prevent some of these things from happening. Letters have heavy weighted bottoms to add a kind of "gravity" to each letter, helping to keep your brain from rotating them around in ways that can make them look like other letters.
