Nokian kännykkänousun alkuvaiheen toimet tulevat hyvin esille C Moren uudessa tv-sarjassa. Suoratoistopalvelun lisäksi MTV3 esittää sarjan ensimmäisen osan omalla peruskanavallaan torstaina 19.5 klo 20.00 alkaen. Verkossa on lisäksi useita sarjaan liittyviä taustavideota.

Kuusiosainen draamasarja Nokiasta ja sen työntekijöistä tuli ensiesitykseen C More -suoratoistokanavan 14. huhtikuuta alkaen. Sen päärooleissa ovat Satu Tuuli Karhu, Emil Kihlström, Aku Sipola, Oona Airola ja Sampo Sarkola. Ohjauksesta vastaa sarjan luoja Maarit Lalli. Mukana on linkki tulevan tv-sarjan mainostraileriin.

Sarjan ensimmäinen osa esitetään myös MTV3:n peruskanavalla torstaina 19.5 klo 20.00 alkaen. Ensimmäinen osa kertoo johtajuuskriisistä. Sarjasta on Youtube-palvelussa myös kuusi haastatteluvideota, joissa annetaan taustoja tv-sarjan sisällöstä ja Nokian kehityksestä sekä taustoista.

A new TV series will chart the rise and fall of Finnish cell phone company Nokia.

Rabbit Films has begun production on “Mobile 1.0” (working title), a six-part scripted drama that explores the meteoric rise of Nokia to become the world’s leading manufacturer of mobile phones before a dramatic fall from grace.

The Finnish and English-language series, shot in Finland and the U.S., will launch in early 2022 on Scandinavian streamer C More, with a linear premiere to follow on MTV3. C More has also picked up the first-window VOD rights for the Nordic and Baltic regions. Rabbit Films is handling international distribution.

Distributed Attention and Shared Emotions in the Innovation Process: How Nokia Lost the Smartphone Battle

We conducted a qualitative study of Nokia to understand its rapid downfall over
the 2005–2010 period from its position as a world-dominant and innovative
technology organization. We found that top and middle managers’ shared emo-
tions during the smartphone innovation process caused cycles of behaviors that
harmed both the process and its outcome. Together, organizational attention
structures and historical factors generated various types of shared fear among
top and middle managers. Top managers were afraid of external competitors
and shareholders, while middle managers were mainly afraid of internal groups,
including superiors and peers. Top managers’ externally focused fear led them
to exert pressure on middle managers without fully revealing the severity of the
external threats and to interpret middle managers’ communications in biased
ways. Middle managers’ internally focused fear reduced their tendency to share
negative information with top managers, leading top managers to develop an
overly optimistic perception of their organization’s technological capabilities and
neglect long-term investments in developing innovation.
