TV frequencies for 4G will double the speed

Nokia, the Finnish Broadcasting Company and Qualcomm demoed for the first time in the world, which is brought on by the use of television to UHF channel additional means in practice the speed of 4G connectivity. The results are impressive.

Demonstration held in Nokia Karaportti center trial in the UHF band (470-694 MHz) was 10 MHz of additional space for LTE connectivity. In practice, the mobile phone data rate doubled.

Nokia's first researcher Timo Knuutila looked ordinary LTE connectivity. 10 MHz channel 2.6 gigahertz region produced a benign 63 Mbps data rate. Since then, the DVB-frequency bundle napsaistiin 10 megahertz more 4G-use and the speedometer reading went up to 124 megabits per second.

It is the SDL technology (supplemental downlink) to the LTE connection bandwidth can be extended to UHF frequencies. Technology will be part of 3GPP Release 14 assays, which will be completed next year.

Kivinen, the broadcaster has been forced to switch to a monolithic model of the hybrid world, where images are exported to all devices everywhere all the time. - Future Broadcasting LTE technology, which is part of the next 3GPP Release 14 standard, to implement this already within 3-5 years.

Kivinen by broadcasters and telecom operators need to engage in close cooperation. - Multi-broadcasting side still thinks that there is a big threat, when someone gets access to "our frequencies." However, the transfer of images to the users is a joint project of broadcasters and operators.

would like to see that the European Commission approve the proposal for the joint use of the UHF band as proposed.

okia developed the technique in an attempt to bring television channels in DVB signal from the mobile phones of the millennium. DVB-H received the name of the technology failed and the reason was a very poor man.

Nokia's Bell Labs responsible for spectrum issues concerning director Ulrich Rehfuess said Friday that the new SDL technology (supplemental downlink) finally allows it, the DVB-H is trying to accomplish. - It is important that this is a technology that is already supported by the terminal.

HD 25-channel network requires Nokia's calculations, the 60-megahertz band. German 4000 base station provides this channel number of the country-wide coverage.

- Mobile TV can not be implemented in existing frequencies, operators, because the capacity is simply not in use. SDL is the best solution for all concerned, Rehfuess assured.
