PICMG-järjestö on julkaissut CompactPCI Serial -standardin kolmannen version, joka tuplaa liitännän nopeuden ja kaistanleveyden. Näin väylä tuo entistä parempaa suorituskykyä vaativiin teollisiin sovelluksiin.

CompactPCI Serial (CPCI-S.0) -standardin uusi versio (Revision 3.0) kaksinkertaistaa sarjaliitäntöjen suorituskyvyn aiempaan versioon verrattuna. Kyseessä on nimenomaan sarjamuotoinen versio perinteisestä CompactPCI-järjestelmästä, jossa tiedonsiirto tapahtuu moderneilla sarjaväylillä kuten PCI Express, USB ja Ethernet.

CompactPCI Serial -järjestelmiä käytetään teollisuusautomaatiossa, ilmailuteknologiassa, raideliikenteessä, puolustustekniikassa ja muissa vaativissa sovelluksissa. Yhteensopivuus vanhojen CompactPCI-järjestelmien ja niin sanottujen hybridijärjestelmien (CompactPCI PlusIO) kanssa takaa sujuvan siirtymän vanhasta uuteen.]]></description>
