Terrain LIDAR scans jungle in search of a lost city

This jungle expedition has a technical aspect that got my attention---the use of airborne light detection and ranging (LIDAR) on an incredibly dense and unexplored, 20,000 square mile patch of the largest untouched rainforest in Central America, in a region known as Mosquitia.  This area spans across both the Honduras and Nicaragua borders.]]></description>
