Poster

Cool Firefox AddOn: Poster article mentions a cool utility for non-unix users, who have been looking for a curl like solution for sending HTTP requests with the various HTTP methods – GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, etc. It is the Firefox add-on Poster.

Poster is a developer tool for interacting with web services and other web resources that lets you make HTTP requests, set the entity body, and content type. This allows you to interact easily with REST type web services and inspect the results. Yes it’s really a generic REST Client application which can invoke any type of REST Service.

Poster is a Mozilla Firefox add-on which can be found for installing at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2691. You can find the source code of the Poster add-on from http://code.google.com/p/poster-extension/.

Once the add-on is installed, you will be able to see an icon P in the Firefox browser status bar. According to the description you should be able use Poster using the icon button in the status bar or by a key stroke, but when I last tested I could not get the CTRL + SHIFT + P to work (instead of activating Poster it made Firefox to go to private browsing mode).
