Netcon GW502 found to be “competently hardened”

I work for Netcontrol that makes provides energy network automation solutions for utility communication, distribution automation, substation automation, and control centers. I have done lots of work with their embedded systems and their security. And I write to this blog actively covering many topica from electronics to network security.

Now some news from my daily work. It seems that well done security work has paid off. The Netcon 500 is known for its tight cyber security. Security is taken care of with an integral VPN and firewall inside each unit. According toNetcon 500 passes tight cyber security testing page this was proven again in the black box penetration and security tests that VTT, the National Technical Research Centre of Finland, carried out in their Cyber Security War Room testing laboratory. During an intense test period of two weeks, no exploitable vulnerabilities were found.
