Got my Raspberry Pi

I just got my Raspberry Pi computer board some time ago. When I cam back from vacation trip I finally had time to test the board. I downloaded the software from Raspberry Pi homepage. I started my testing with Raspbian “wheezy” OS version because that is the image Raspberry Pi creators recommend you use. It is based on the Raspbian optimised version of Debian, and containing LXDE, Midori, development tools and example source code for multimedia functions.

I used Windows to burn the SD card. I tried to use Win32DiskImager writing software on my older PC that runs with Windows Vista, but it failed. I also tested several other writing tools, but they all failed. It turned out the the hardware/drivers on my old PC did not work with the SDHC cards properly. Unfortunately I had a newer laptop where that 4Gigabyte SDHC card I ordered with the board (recommended by RS components where I bought the board from) worked well. The burning worked well with Win32DiskImager writing software.

After writing I put the card to Rasberry Pi board card slot and connected all necessary accessories (PSU, keyboard, mouse, monitor). The system booted well and worked as expected.
