According to the Finnish Information Processing Association, TIVIA, the country has an immediate need for 7,000 more software development professionals with the anticipated demand further expected to grow by up to 3,800 people annually. This can mean EUR 3-4 billion annually in lost GDP.

So, if the pay is good, why the massive headcount deficit?

Roughly 1,100 ICT-professionals graduate from Finnish universities annually with under 300 of them specializing in software development.
