Microsoft cuts 1,850 mobile staff signaling the end of Lumia phones

This is the end of devices formerly known as Nokia mobile phones and smart phones. 😩

Microsoft bought this business from Nokia, but could not stop the downturn. Most workers that designed those phones are in Finland.

    In Finland, there are several companies that will take Nokia’s smart phone legacy forward.

    Finnish mobile phone design is derived from the history of the 1984 Mobira Talkman and the 1989 Cityman.

    Plenty of people in the mobile industry have started companies that operate in Finland, either national or foreign ownership basis.

    Russian Yota Devices phone manufacturer design team is also in Oulu, Finland.
    Marshall of the British London telephone was also designed in Oulu.

    Huawei has a research center in Helsinki.
