The Internet Map

The Internet Map is an interesting web page. It represents over 350,000 websites from 196 countries and he map displays over 2 million site links based on topical similarities. Each site is represented by a circle, with size depending on the amount of traffic, and the space between each is determined by frequency, or strength, of the link created when user’s jump from one website to another.

The map has a search function that allows you to find location of your favorite site easily. That search revealed that in the map.

At first glance, the image below looks like a satellite image of Europe at night. Actually, it is a map that reveals how active Europeans are on social networking sites Twitter and Flickr. Created by Eric Fischer, the map combines data from geotagged photos from Flickr and geotagged posts on the micro-messaging network Twitter.
