AV Science Forum has an interesting posting on Ayre DX-5 blueray player. The article claims that Ayre DX-5 bluray player is a modified Oppo BDP-83 blueray player and even describes the modifications made to the device. Interesting article indeed to read, although I am a pretty skeptic would those modifications be worth of all of the money they cost (from $500 to $10000). Maybe for someone, or maybe not…

Comment on Vertu phones. They seem to be made in pretty much same way those expensive Blue-Ray players: pretty normal average hardware put into more expensive case and sold at huge price. If you look beneath the luxury exterior you see a pretty standard collection of silicon and software.
Nokia’s subsidiary Vertu makes only one thing: luxury phones (cheapest $5000). The Vertu brand is responsible for adding many of the zero’s to price.

Can i ask why you are going to buy a DSLR? do you really need to buy one? do you know about the bridge cameras? if you are interested in getting to know how to use a camera and don’t want to spend 1,000s on a camera try this camera instead…Fujifilm Finepix S9100. it has all the features of a DSLR yet you are only going to spend about $350-500 on it. it comes with a 10.7x optical zoom along with a 2x digital zoom. optical zoom in a 35mm film camera is equal to 28-300mm lens. See how much you will spend on lens that go upto 300mm. this camera is either automatic or you can switch to manual and adjust everything you want to on the camera. I too was going for the DSLR and i am not a pro at all, then a friend let me borrow this for a week and i was suprised by the pics i took. Look up this camera in the internet and read the reviews…the user reviews…this camera is a step down from DSLR but this will let you grow with it and down the road when the DSLR becomes much cheaper then switch over if you want. I say why buy a Porsche when you first learn to drive and wreck it? Why not work your way up and learn to drive then buy the porsche.

What is the real difference between Blue-Ray and regular DVD’s? I have a 48” 1080 TV, and I after borrowing a friends Blue-Ray player, I noticed no real difference in quality. Am I missing something?
The main difference between Blue-Ray and regular DVD’s is that Blue-Ray discs have higher resolution. This means more details in the picture and the picture look better especially in bigger screen sizes. There are cases where the difference between Blue-Ray and regular DVD is hard to see unless you know what to look at and there are cases where the difference can be seen very clearly.
