Finland is number one ICT country

Tietoviikko reports that Finland (my home country) is the world’s best IT country according to World Economic Forum study The Global Information Technology Report 2013. According to the study, Finland is the world’s number one country when it comes to the economy’s ability to use information technology to competitiveness and prosperity. Finland has toppled Sweden from the top spot in a ranking of economies that are best placed to benefit from new information and communication technologies (ICTs). The question still remains how this result was got because there are many things in Finland ICT that are are far from very good, so are other countries just much lousier on those aspects?

At the core of the report, the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) measures the preparedness of an economy to use ICT to boost competitiveness and well-being. In this edition, Finland (1st), Singapore (2nd) and Sweden (3rd) continue to lead the NRI, with the Netherlands (4th), Norway (5th), Switzerland (6th), the United Kingdom (7th), Denmark (8th), the United States (9th) and Taiwan, China (10th) completing the top 10.

Global Information Technology Report 2013 has a nice map that visualizes the network readiness of different countries.

Competition is intensifying in trade of electronics components

Finland component store is running on the price competition that has not previously been seen. Paper merchants have begun to lower their prices to hold on to their clients. representing RS Components products in Finland General Electronics sales managers Igor Forsblom pipe and Merja Saari continues to believe that the seller’s expertise is decisive.

RS’s campaign, the prices of many products are falling very competitive

RS has a stock of more than half a million different products and new ones take 5000 months rate. Officially, the campaign, which started on Tuesday, calculated prices cables and connectors up to 10 per cent.

What is the customer’s point of view a very good thing, is not necessarily the merchant point of view. Finland component trade volumes have not increased in recent years, so market share is now applied even through the price of the race. RS is not the only one, for example, Elfa has dropped the prices of its products extensively.

However, in recent years the Finnish market has also become the new foreign sellers. It says at least the fact that even though the market is not growing, it is still seen as attractive to the merchant point of view.

The reactor engineers explain conscious irony, that when the assembly work started on Monday, so it is not quite the whole satellite system have time to get ready for the same week.

The reactor crowd woke change already and a half years ago, when they were dealing with the Aalto University School of satellite projects. Reaktor quickly realized the commercial potential of emerging academic research, but Liukkonen hastens to admit that was enough surprises for them. manufacturing enterprise information systems to live in extreme technical development at the forefront, but in terms of space images were still lagging behind. “Satellite” seemed to mean eksoottisinta electronics, million-dollar budgets and trading company engineers.

In fact, current satellite can be more akin to flying mobiles. Largely thanks to handset manufacturers components have shrunk, stronger and cheaper so much so that the satellite can put together a viable principle shelf goods.

The reactor on the table being planned for nano-satellites according to the Cubesat standard, which in itself is not a new invention. In just over ten years of similar weight a few pounds of equipment has already been launched into space almost 500 pieces.
Size does, however, of crucial importance in technology and the economy. Even in smaller Nanos, ie no more than one kilogram heavier pikosatelliiteissa there are so many technical limitations that pikot have been mainly of hobby projects. higher Nanos micro satellites while weighing tens of pounds to their limits against the direction of the economy. Getting into orbit costs approximately EUR 50 000 per kilogram, and if the line is less common, the price may be increased several-fold.
Nano Satellites are located exactly in the optimal crossing point. In a few kilos can accommodate many tasks kännykkämäisiä a sufficient number of components, but the trip cost will still be a commercially reasonable level.
Also nano-satellites, labor and material costs have fallen to new numbers. In the tradition of satellites, technical price per kilo was around the million kilo nano can, in some configurations, to pay EUR 100 000.

The most significant feature of the reactor two kilos Hello World -satellite still does not relate to specific components, but its design guiding philosophy.

Unfinished intermediate stage called MVP (Minimum Viable Product), which could translate into minimal functional development version. In less than a week built a satellite billet is precisely the MVP, so Reaktor is basically just moved the already familiar methods and even other projects of familiar components in space.
    Upgrade to 600 km
The idea is reflected most clearly in ground station tiny. If the plans are realized, hello world to communicate with the representative of the latest generation of small station, which can be modified only by encoding different versions of the laptop station new software. The reactor’s strength is precisely the application of high-speed software strategies previously cumbersome space technology.

For example, an interview at the time of the satellite payload should be a modest 13-megapixel camera, which would be only a “landscape images” for your workout data communications. However, the trajectory may end up with something entirely different, and the same applies to the real objective of planning the structure of the satellite platform, or platform.
