According to the study, Finland is the world’s number one country when it comes to the economy’s ability to use information technology to competitiveness and prosperity. Finland has toppled Sweden from the top spot in a ranking of economies that are best placed to benefit from new information and communication technologies (ICTs). The question still remains how this result was got because there are many things in Finland ICT that are are far from very good, so are other countries just much lousier on those aspects?

At the core of the report, the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) measures the preparedness of an economy to use ICT to boost competitiveness and well-being. In this edition, Finland (1st), Singapore (2nd) and Sweden (3rd) continue to lead the NRI, with the Netherlands (4th), Norway (5th), Switzerland (6th), the United Kingdom (7th), Denmark (8th), the United States (9th) and Taiwan, China (10th) completing the top 10.

Finland has only recently woken up to wonder just how badly we utilized digitalisation and its possibilities.

Finnish industry structure is predominantly in the B2B market . In countries where there are a lot of big consumer brands , with digital technology have woken up earlier. It is also utilized more efficiently.

2000s IT bubble burst investment hangover gave birth to sweat even more. In addition, Nokia sucked for a long time in our country the best talent . This weakened for other companies , especially in developing side.

Also the Finnish company’s management deserves criticism . It is a sleeping beauty’s dream of going digital conquest of the world. We have done business in Finland for Finnish people and not been seen or threat of international actors prepared for it.

It is high time to consider concrete measures to resolve the matter.

The basic idea is that the idea of the economy enjoying success in connecting the old and new.

1 The domestic industry still has a chance to avoid the throes of upheaval in the retail errors. The industry should be alert and to respond to changes brought about by digitalization. Digital must be in all the companies at the heart of the strategy.

2 digitalisation of customer focus and customer encounter up the decisive factors regardless of the industry .

3 With digital it comes the real revolution that will change the organizational structures and processes. Digital with the value chains of disintegrated and change , and business networking.

4 Digital business is based on the idea of the idea economy. The development often means new ideas and models for applying and managing competitive edge.

Digital business models are always multi-channel and the brand must remain recognizable regardless of the channel .

The management company now urgently required courage, vision, and vision and courage to the international level . Manager is no longer enough simply to the financial know-how . Continuing the savings needed room for investment and development . Renewal is an essential feature of the digital age .

People are used to the simplicity of digital services , such as Google and Facebook. We are a consumer as well as in the workplace.

In reality, Finnish companies have all the necessary skills and opportunities to succeed in the digital business . It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work .

Finland was the country that started smartphone movement:

    Nokia invented smartphone:
Launched in 1996, the Nokia 9000 Communicator showed a company at the peak of its design powers: the Communicator was a mobile powerhouse, with 8MB of memory and a 33MHz processor. This combination ran Nokia’s own GEOS operating system (a predecessor to the Symbian OS used on later models), combined with a suite of business programs that could read and edit Microsoft Office files from a desktop PC.

Apple’s success with the iPhone’s predecessor, the phone was produced in Oulu , says the newspaper Kaleva . This is a MyOrigo ‘s phone MyDevice you tried to bring to the market as early as the turn of the millennium .

MyDevice phone was a touch screen and the ability to view full web pages zoom and moving it in real time. Change pages by swiping your finger . When the device is rotated, the display changes from portrait to landscape That is, activities that are familiar to the iPhone , and most other modern smartphones .

MyOrigo could not find a great partner for it’s myDevice phone. Nokia was not interested. There was some co-operation with Samsung and Apple, but it ended.

When former MyOrigo inventor and chief technology officer John Väänänen saw Apple CEO Steve Jobs announcing iPhone in 2007, he walked to bar cabinet, took a long sip of Calvados and slammed the myDevice phone to wall.

    Mapping Our Interiors
    http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/05/18/mapping-our-interiors/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

A Finnish company called IndoorAtlas has figured out that all buildings have a unique magnetic “fingerprint” — and has solved how to use that to determine locations inside a structure to within six feet. That is enough to take a consumer to a product in a crowded supermarket, or figure out the location of, say, a half-dozen workers in a building full of them. It’s also much better than cell phone towers can do.

The reason for the fingerprint is that the steel in buildings distorts the Earth’s magnetic field. Different amounts of steel, and changes in the magnetic field at different points on the globe, make each building’s distortion unique.

IndoorAtlas scans a building to determine its fingerprint (it amounts to walking around a map of the floor plan, which is overlaid on a Google map). After that, anyone can use a smartphone’s compass to navigate the interior.

IndoorAtlas has enjoyed some success selling the service to stores in Finland. In at least one case, shoppers can load their week’s shopping into their phones, and get interior directions about where every product is located, and how to efficiently walk through the store to get everything.

The company is hoping for bigger success with U.S. big box retailers, and hopes also to resell the service in Asia.

The business plan of InsideAtlas is somewhat unorthodox: It will measure and store your building’s magnetic fingerprint in its computing cloud. Keeping it private, however, will cost $99 a month, per building. “It’s free if you want it public,” he said.

Moreover, he expects that soon enough other versions of magnetic fingerprinting will happen, and that crowds of individuals will contribute indoor information to public databases.

Certainly, we’ve seen this kind of development already for our open public spaces. OpenStreetMap is an open source project that has, since 2004

The survey found that the state wasted difficult to work equipment to an annual 275 million euros in working hours. Why are we at this point , Occupational Health Development Manager Teppo Valtonen ?

It seems that the physical weaknesses of the tools are easier to spot. No one would go to work in 50 – kilogram public with a shovel. Knowledge work tools problems are more difficult to detect.

When IT systems have been built and designed , usually the eye has been on technical issues (and often not so much on usability etc…)

The survey has revealed that , in principle, users have limited trust it: a positive ratio . Consistency and usability of the systems could, however, put more emphasis on . For example, the dates may be required to meet the European and the American way and that is why the dates keep manually edit the various information system to another.

On the other hand problems may also be the organization of work : a system that is excellent for administrative professional user are in constant use , it may also be used from time to time , hundreds of other workers , which can be tricky to learn how rarely they need the system.

There are currently focuses too much on the price tag or take into account the fact that the cheaper the IT system may be more difficult to use. Instead, we should think about how the new system will affect the activities of the organization , and to consider more things for the user.

For Rittal and similar future looks excellent , because all the “knowledge” is an inconceivably large , growing out of control and it is distributed and plagiarizes senselessly .

Only a few items Finland’s competitiveness in data centers scanning report makes wondering.

Such as: ” data centers are encouraged to support a new national economy feet . ”

For me, it is dark , who all hope and most of all , why? How these will be the economic pillar of the shed to anyone other than the infrastructure providers and electric utilities ?

The data center , and creativity ?

The report also says that the data center is the country’s competitiveness requires creativity and a new kind of effort.

I wonder if there are still any issue in which not talk about creativity ?

We Finns problem is that all of the machine room somehow related to creativity and know-how and innovation are freaking the other end, and it can be located , for example, a tax haven .

The halls themselves are already almost automatic, and after a while they are fully automatic.

“Data centers will become part of smart ciries . Data centers waste heat re-use will be an important part of urban planning.”

First class students programming instruction begins in 2016 – Espoo code gets a taste of the coding club

Perkkaanpuisto gives a taste of the autumn of 2016. Then all Finnish schoolchildren learn programming – first grade.

Seven classes will start in 2017, eights and nines 2018 to 2019. A father and mother pöyristyy information. First grade! They may need to look back on your own computer teaching in 1970 – or 1980′s.

It was quite an occult science and Basic programming language.

    Now blowing in different winds.

“Programming know-how in the 2000s citizen’s right and obligation,” says Linda Liukas. He has just completed with Juhani Mykkänen a teachers manual for programming. Its name is Koodi2016.

Programming input can upset some of the teachers because also they should know it themselves. A guide book to try to help in that.

“The book is a first aid kit and programming cheat sheet,”

Liukas and Mykkänen met once at the seminar. They wonder how to Finland programming knowledge visible. To order for the Board of Education to consider the place of programming in teaching. Elsewhere in the world, such as Estonia and the United Kingdom, had already woken up.

Education Minister Kiuru took the programming of the draft curriculum. A few countries will be Finland, alongside that. Singapore and South Korea will start soon learned programming.

September programming input is everywhere evident. Almost all of the world is being digitalized at a rapid pace. Also, services and everyday transactions are increasingly based computers. Although the program does not end up in the country – most do not, of course, end up – it’s good to know how everything revolves.

First of all, the programming will be all in the context of mathematics education. But it is spreading to other classes.

“All sectors to change due to software”

Liukas founded Rails Girls slick set up shop, which is based on a voluntary basis. It aims to ensure that girls start programming.

Since then, Slick began in New York City teach programming online Codecademyssä 2012. Now the service has already 24 million users. At the same time Rails Girls is spreading in Asia.

Computer user nowadays does not necessarily need for information about the programs or programming – it makes them passive. That’s why now is the way to go back to the starting point. At the same time programmers will be expanded gradually to all age groups.

In Finland, the project will drive almost all the gamblers Rovio Siilasmaa, and Sitra supercel. Two parties share the view that the 2000s in the information society is much digicam, ones and zeros.
If someone does not make the world of digital programs in Finland, they needs to be bought from abroad.

Fundamentally programming it is not difficult, but becoming very good in it takes lots of work.
