Finland is number one ICT country

Tietoviikko reports that Finland (my home country) is the world’s best IT country according to World Economic Forum study The Global Information Technology Report 2013. According to the study, Finland is the world’s number one country when it comes to the economy’s ability to use information technology to competitiveness and prosperity. Finland has toppled Sweden from the top spot in a ranking of economies that are best placed to benefit from new information and communication technologies (ICTs). The question still remains how this result was got because there are many things in Finland ICT that are are far from very good, so are other countries just much lousier on those aspects?

At the core of the report, the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) measures the preparedness of an economy to use ICT to boost competitiveness and well-being. In this edition, Finland (1st), Singapore (2nd) and Sweden (3rd) continue to lead the NRI, with the Netherlands (4th), Norway (5th), Switzerland (6th), the United Kingdom (7th), Denmark (8th), the United States (9th) and Taiwan, China (10th) completing the top 10.

Global Information Technology Report 2013 has a nice map that visualizes the network readiness of different countries.

For companies new security requirements: economic sanctions “unprecedented”

Does your company have cyber security strategy will lead to one of the security and whether the responsibility of applicants named?

Carelessness can become extremely expensive. The EU’s new Data Protection Regulation shall enter into force in Finland in 2018, as long as the Ministry of Justice has the details ready. In the future, the company management must be actively and demonstrably ensure the adequacy of their security.

Registers that have personal information get the special protection in the Regulation.

If sensitive information leakage and non-compliance is found, the economic sanctions are unprecedented extent in Finland. The fine may, at worst, to rise to EUR 20 million or four per cent of the company’s worldwide turnover – whichever is greater. These come on top of any damages.

Opening place has just completed an international IT giant CGI’s statement made in Finland in Finnish cyber security space organizations 2016, asking 200 the organization of their perception of their own data security.

Based on the survey companies cyber security attitude is partly contradictory. Digitalization has brought with it the risk awareness, but surprisingly few businesses have started to lead to a security or made cyber security strategy. Only half of the organizations says that their cyber security to be in the hands of expert. Only 29 per cent have made cyber security strategy.

Two-thirds of respondents considered it likely that their organization has been the subject of launch cyber-attacks anyone knowing about it. An even greater proportion expect within a year of the invasion. Inconsistently even 69 percent believe their organization’s ability to identify and launch cyber-attacks of 60 per cent also says they have discovered.

Today, insurance is available to protect the economic risks of a data breach. Only a few companies had purchased the insurance, but one in five considered it.

The worst scenario is the energy and water as well as health and wellness business areas. Public administration, defense, IT and financial sector and the industry are more awake.

Hidden jobs arise, particularly in growth sectors

The Employment Forum is a fairly minor to another, even if there is some positive news: reports, for example, software, services or construction sectors for future recruitment needs to create a positive tone. Admittedly, the simultaneous increase in the number of unemployed with available jobs, is a cause for concern in terms of the competitiveness of Finnish phenomenon. Even if work is available and is free of factors, companies still do not find the talent they need: knowledge and unfinished work do not mix.

Hidden jobs has been talked about for a long time: job-seekers are encouraged to contact the companies directly. The aim is to hunt for tasks that do not yet have a public search and where not, therefore, have little competition. A hidden do not help, if the person’s competence is not sufficiently close to the needs of the company. For many companies, the direct recruitment threshold may be too overwhelming.

In this situation, an increasing number of job-seekers has taken a new initiative in their own hands: job seeker and the company work together to create the conditions for a new job or, alternatively, the employee will accumulate know-how required for the target task.

Super hidden jobs of course do not solve all the social problems in Finland, but they can be one of the means to bring companies the right kind of knowledge and help businesses thrive in a rapidly changing competitive environment. The employee’s point of view the meaning is obvious: a meaningful job, as well as a completely new skills. No wonder, then, that the parity super hidden jobs is growing rapidly.
