Many folks have bench type LCR meters available and employ the usual general purpose Kelvin type clips or direct connect fixtures for most measurements. When encountering SMD components these measurement tools/methods can become difficult and frustrating for quality repeatable measurements, especially true for low Z components.

ROHM on kehittänyt uuden pintaliitoskotelon SiC-MOSFETeille. TSC3PAK-kotelossa lämpö johdetaan komponentin yläpinnan kautta, mikä tuo pintaliitoskomponenttiin läpiladottavien TO-247-tehopiirien kaltaista lämmönhallintaa.
Piikarbiditehopiirien käyttö laajenee sähköautoissa pääinverttereistä myös muihin tehomuunninpiireihin. Niitä käytetään esimerkiksi ajoneuvojen sisäisissä latureissa ja sähkökompressoreissa. Samaa kehitystä nähdään myös palvelinteholähteissä ja aurinkosähköinverttereissä, joissa hyötysuhteella on suuri merkitys.
Tehokkaat SiC-komponentit on perinteisesti pakattu läpiladottaviin koteloihin, kuten TO-247-rakenteisiin. Niiden etuna on hyvä lämmönpoisto, mutta ne vaativat enemmän tilaa ja niiden ladonta on hankalampaa automatisoida.
ROHMin uusi TSC3PAK on pintaliitoskotelo, jonka koko on 14,00 × 18,58 × 3,50 millimetriä. Yläpuolisen jäähdytysrakenteen ansiosta komponentti voidaan asentaa automaattisesti, mutta ROHMin mukaan lämmönpoisto vastaa perinteistä TO-247-4L-koteloa.
