With the Eurovision 2022 in Turin, the broadcaster RAI inspired millions worldwide with its impressive stage and high-quality sound. EventElevator had the great opportunity to talk to some of the technical companies involved in this massive tv show production: Paolo Marcuzzi from sound d-light explains exciting details about the latest lighting equipment. His company, together with Calvini Light equipment service, installed nearly 3,000 light fixtures in the beautiful Pala Alpitour arena. Madrix Specialist Claudio Cianfoni reveals some infos about the massive pixel mapping effects that enlivened the show experience. Alfredo de Luca from Atelier Francesca Montinaro explains the special design language behind the set design with the exciting kinetic sun at the centre. Alessio Comuzzi was part of the Agorà team, which took over the field of audio production this year. He explains the challenges behind getting the sound to „record release level“. This year, of course, the Riedel team again took care of the signal distribution and complete intercom solutions throughout the big halls. Part of this is, of course, to equip also the many commentator boxes with technology so that the speakers can do their job smoothly. Jakob Refer from Riedel explains the technology behind the Riedel CCP-1116 Commentary Panels and the importance of having a perfect support team for the working commentators from all over Europe.

The EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2023 in Liverpool came to a brilliant end with an ultra-exciting final in the glorious Liverpool Arena. Swedish singer Loreen was able to win the trophy for a second time. This year, Great Britain took over the organization of the contest on behalf of last year’s winner Ukraine. The stage, light and show concept was outstanding and the BBC welcomed millions of viewers worldwide with open (light)arms. EventElevator captured tech details of the stage, light and show concept. Lighting Designer icon Tim Routledge and the renowned Stage Designer Julio Himede are explaining insights to this year’s stage concept and how to celebrate 37 delegations and numerous interval acts minute by minute. Damien Jackson from Lighting Supplier Neg Earth Lights and Lighting Programmer Tom Young add more technical details on equipment and programming of the truly massive show event that united everyone with music.
