Here are some of the the major AI trends shaping 2026 — based on current expert forecasts, industry reports, and recent developments in technology. The material is analyzed using AI tools and final version hand-edited to this blog text:
1. Generative AI Continues to Mature
Generative AI (text, image, video, code) will become more advanced and mainstream, with notable growth in:
* Generative video creation
* Gaming and entertainment content generation
* Advanced synthetic data for simulations and analytics
This trend will bring new creative possibilities — and intensify debates around authenticity and copyright.
2. AI Agents Move From Tools to Autonomous Workers
Rather than just answering questions or generating content, AI systems will increasingly act autonomously, performing complex, multi-step workflows and interacting with apps and processes on behalf of users — a shift sometimes called agentic AI. These agents will become part of enterprise operations, not just assistant features.
3. Smaller, Efficient & Domain-Specific Models
Instead of “bigger is always better,” specialized AI models tailored to specific industries (healthcare, finance, legal, telecom, manufacturing) will start to dominate in many enterprise applications. These models are more accurate, legally compliant, and cost-efficient than general models.
4. AI Embedded Everywhere
AI won’t be an add-on feature — it will be built into everyday software and devices:
* Office apps with intelligent drafting, summarization, and task insights
* Operating systems with native AI
* Edge devices processing AI tasks locally
This makes AI pervasive in both work and consumer contexts.
5. AI Infrastructure Evolves: Inference & Efficiency Focus
More investment is going into inference infrastructure — the real-time decision-making step where models run in production — thereby optimizing costs, latency, and scalability. Enterprises are also consolidating AI stacks for better governance and compliance.
6. AI in Healthcare, Research, and Sustainability
AI is spreading beyond diagnostics into treatment planning, global health access, environmental modeling, and scientific discovery. These applications could help address personnel shortages and speed up research breakthroughs.
7. Security, Ethics & Governance Become Critical
With AI handling more sensitive tasks, organizations will prioritize:
* Ethical use frameworks
* Governance policies
* AI risk management
This trend reflects broader concerns about trust, compliance, and responsible deployment.
8. Multimodal AI Goes Mainstream
AI systems that understand and generate across text, images, audio, and video will grow rapidly, enabling richer interactions and more powerful applications in search, creative work, and interfaces.
9. On-Device and Edge AI Growth
10. New Roles: AI Manager & Human-Agent Collaboration
Instead of replacing humans, AI will shift job roles:
* People will manage, supervise, and orchestrate AI agents
* Human expertise will focus on strategy, oversight, and creative judgment
This human-in-the-loop model becomes the norm.

A biochemist in his garage has bypassed the pharmaceutical pipeline, using ChatGPT to design a new schizophrenia drug and synthesize it.
Harvard-educated biochemist Douglas Yao has sparked intense global debate after announcing he successfully synthesized a new schizophrenia treatment in his garage using a formula generated by ChatGPT.
Dubbed PAC-3310, the experimental compound is designed to target the M4 muscarinic receptor, mirroring the mechanism of the newly FDA-approved antipsychotic Cobenfy but with purported improvements.
Operating from a makeshift laboratory set up on folding tables, Yao claims he bypassed the traditional, multi-million-dollar pharmaceutical development pipeline by utilizing artificial intelligence, ultimately producing a vial of yellow powder that he is now testing on cell lines and mice.
While Yao champions his DIY approach as a way to conduct preclinical drug research at a fraction of the traditional cost, medical and regulatory experts urge extreme caution.
The intersection of generative AI and backyard biohacking raises profound safety and ethical questions, especially concerning the lack of peer review, standardized quality control, and rigorous clinical oversight. After all, testing exists to prevent, well, people from taking random untested drugs and dying. And that kind of testing needs to be carefully planned by expert trained with reliable equipment scientists — which necessarily costs money.
Despite Yao’s confidence in the computational accuracy of ChatGPT, experts warn that relying on AI-generated chemical formulas without strict regulatory validation could lead to dangerous contamination, unforeseen toxicities, and the normalization of unregulated amateur drug manufacturing.

It’s strange how only OpenAI and Anthropic are reporting these major evil AI behaviors. Grok, Gemini, Llama, Gwen, Kimi, and others seem unaffected. Could it be related to their IPO potential and company valuation? Could it be they trying to sell you something so they can have even greater control?
Seems to us like they are trying to sell us “fear”. You sell fear to people when you want to control them.
And to do that must think the public is really, really dumb …

Surely our creaking gerontocracy is well-equipped to respond to a technology as novel, disruptive, and rapidly evolving as AI, right?
Well, we hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but a new piece from Politico makes it sure sound like that Congress is completely stumped by how to tackle AI, with over a dozen lawmakers and congressional aides venting to the newspaper about the lack of urgency on the Hill over regulating the tech. Many questioned whether elected representatives fully grasp, or are even capable of grasping, the technology they’re dealing with.

Although we hope these protests remain peaceful, there’s always a chance things can turn violent when tensions are high. Should things go south, take comfort in the knowledge that a company in Japan has introduced a robot ambulance service. It’s probably more accurate to compare it with roadside assistance, as the goal is to repair the robot on-site. That said, if the fault is more serious, they can bring the damaged bot back to HQ. Of course, the major difference between this program and a traditional ambulance service is that they’ll be able to bring along a spare robot that can take over the patient’s job while repairs are being made. Should anyone start doing that for humans, expect a few more protests.

China is rapidly emerging as a major force in the global humanoid robot industry, with six Chinese companies ranking among the world’s top 10 manufacturers, according to Morgan Stanley’s Humanoid 100 report. UBTech, Unitree Robotics, AgiBot, Fourier Intelligence, Xiaomi, and XPeng are all featured among the leading makers. China also accounts for 37 of the 100 companies in the broader humanoid robotics ecosystem, compared with 22 from the United States. Its strengths include large-scale manufacturing, established supply chains, and the ability to produce robots faster and at lower costs.
The US still leads in areas such as advanced AI, powerful chips, and robotics software. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley has raised its forecast for China’s 2026 humanoid robot shipments from 28,000 to 50,000 units, highlighting how quickly the industry is expanding.

A FRUIT FLY BRAIN IS RUNNING INSIDE A COMPUTER !
Scientists have created a detailed digital model of a fruit fly brain containing about 125,000 neurons and 50 million synaptic connections.
Connected to a virtual body, the simulated brain can process sensory signals and control behaviors like walking, feeding and grooming. The model has even shown about 95% behavioral accuracy in certain tests.
It’s not a conscious fly living inside a computer — but it brings scientists one step closer to understanding whether biological brains can eventually be digitally emulated.
And that raises a fascinating question: How far could this technology go?

A coffee shop owner used AI to make a menu poster. Then came the angry DMs.
https://www.businessinsider.com/coffee-shop-owner-ai-menu-backlash-2026-9?utm_campaign=insider-link-post&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwdGRjcAUUtnhwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHjvSsQtuoxO2bkyhkZQfS9YdrrRUPknHki43CNds_GH8ZaxPFpEFgOaDxWPP_aem_EHDoTQC9-g3OgoH_-EnHUw
Megi Endeladze never expected to be at the center of an AI backlash.
She and her husband opened Penny’s Coffee Shop in downtown Buffalo, New York three years ago. Endeladze kept her 9-to-5 as a chiropractor while spending her free time helping out in the shop.
One of the duties she relished was photographing the drinks and menu items, including a few signature items like a cheesy bread dish from their native country, Georgia, for their social media channels and website.
Penny’s Coffee Shop would switch seasonal drinks every few months, and Endeladze would photograph the new items herself, and it would end up being a full-day event.
Then, one of the more artistically gifted baristas would create a chalkboard sign for the new drink menus or promotional specials. Over the years, there had been several employees skilled with lettering and design, and the duty had always rotated among them, always done in-house.
But this fall, the aesthetically inclined barista who most recently chalked the signs had moved out of town, Endelaydsze said, and there was no one on staff at the moment who had the skill set to do a chalkboard. So Endelaydsze decided to get a poster printed up instead. She considered doing what she has done in the past: taking her own photos and editing them together with Canva. But with a newborn baby, she figured she could save herself some time and do it with AI.
“I felt like a genius, and made posters using AI and frame them,” she told me. ‘Not knowing how much damage it would cause my coffee shop.”
She used ChatGPT to make an image of the menu, and got the poster professionally printed up for around $150. She also bought a plastic poster holder that cost around $200.
Then, she posted a photo of the new menu sign to Instagram. Very soon, the negative comments started rolling in:
“AI Slop.”
“Really a shame honestly.”
Angry DMs, including a threat
“Penny’s customer — or I guess ex-customer now,” started one DM. “I’m sorry it came to this, but AI is a hard no for me.”
“I didn’t do it on purpose to upset anybody, especially customers,” Endeladze told me. “In Buffalo, where we are, it’s a lot of artistic community and all that. I didn’t even think of that like that.”
She noticed she had lost about 100 followers — some of whom told her as much before they unfollowed.
Then came a threat. An account with a much larger following DM’d her and told her to take down the sign, or they would post about it to their local artist community. The person offered to help her find an artist to pay to make a new sign, or else they would post about it.
‘There is a real person behind this small business’
Endeladze posted a follow-up to Instagram to apologize, saying that she had decided the coffee shop would not use AI for menu artwork or promo designs.
But she also urged her customers to approach the topic with “kindness and respect.”
“What has been difficult for me, however, is the amount of negativity, personal attacks, and messages that followed this situation,” she wrote. “There is a real person behind this small business. I am doing my best to run a local coffee shop, support my team, serve our community, and navigate being a new mom at the same time.”
Penny’s Coffee Shop isn’t the only business that has experienced some backlash when using AI.
Endeladyze said she felt terrible that she had upset her customers, but she was also frustrated at the idea that she should have been paying a real artist. Making these signs was a job only she had done herself or with employees in the past, never hiring outsiders.

AI automatisoi auton elektroniikan testauksen
https://etn.fi/index.php/13-news/19292-ai-automatisoi-auton-elektroniikan-testauksen

https://etn.fi/index.php/13-news/19293-nokian-uusi-alusta-vie-tekoaelyn-suoraan-kentaelle
Pelastus- ja turvallisuuskäytössä Nokia kutsuu ratkaisua Vehicle as a Node -malliksi. CEN-päätteellä varustetut poliisiautot, paloautot ja ambulanssit voivat muodostaa tapahtumapaikalle hajautetun verkon ja jakaa yhteistä reaaliaikaista tilannekuvaa. Yhteydet voidaan muodostaa 5G:n, Wi-Fin ja satelliittiverkkojen kautta.

https://x.com/satyanadella/status/2099220712024408084
Any pursuit of superintelligence has to be grounded in the core principle that if the AI we build is not helping humanity and under human control, it’s not worth pursuing.
We also need to accelerate and spread the benefits of AI, such that they are diffused broadly across countries, communities, and companies. This requires a frontier ecosystem in which both closed and open-source models can thrive.
And for firms, it’s imperative that they retain full control over their unique and tacit knowledge. Every organization should be able to build its own continuous learning loop/hill climbing machine, without becoming dependent on any one model provider, and have the ability to embed its own knowledge into models and weights they control.
So, in this context, we welcome the research, focus, and deliberate pacing needed to get alignment right as the design goal. We also welcome ideas like “embedded evaluators” and the broader efforts to develop the mechanisms to make this more than just talk.
The key is that this cannot be controlled by a handful of entities, but must have broad representation across the ecosystem, countries, and fields, including academia.
This is the approach we are taking: broad access and choice at every layer of the AI stack; enterprise control of learning loops and models; and the “Code of Conduct” that underlies our own first party MAI models that we’ll publish tomorrow for public consultation.

Your AI stack decisions may become limited by the rivalry of two superpowers.
According to our recent report, the US and China are each developing an AI technology stack designed to reduce their dependence on the other.
This means their stacks are increasingly incompatible, and CEOs and policymakers across the globe may have to choose sides sooner than they think.

Amazon is catapulting us into the final boss of sub vs dub debates.
On Thursday, its Prime Video streaming service announced the launch of a new AI-powered feature that matches actors’ mouth movements to dubbed audio tracks — which we’re sure won’t result in nightmarish hallucinations of facial disfigurement.
For now, the company says that the AI-powered lip syncing will exclusively be available on the English dub of the German Series “Maxton Hall,” though there are plans to expand it to other titles in the future.
“At Prime Video, we’re constantly innovating with new tools that enhance the viewing experience for our customers,” Raf Soltanovich, vice president of technology at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement, per the New York Times. “With lip-syncing, we’re creating a more seamless and immersive way for customers to enjoy global content.”

Nvidia extended its premarket slide at Monday’s open, trading down 4% shortly after 9:30 a.m. ET, with SpaceX also down 1.9%. The wider Nasdaq was down over 1% at the open.
The weakness followed a weekend in which Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urged AI companies to slow the “reckless” pace of development, warning that increasingly capable AI agents could eventually cause severe economic damage.

In a blog post on Saturday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said frontier AI labs should commit to embedding independent safety evaluators within their organizations.
The embedded evaluators’ job is to check whether the company “is actually following the training, deployment, operational, and safeguards practices they claim to be following,” Amodei wrote.

Over the weekend, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei joined Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in calling for a slowdown in the development of frontier AI models — just days after Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon announced that he was quitting his job, claiming that neither Anthropic nor his former employer OpenAI is “acting responsibly.”
The desire in Silicon Valley to pump the brakes is palpable. Following several hacking incidents this year, the threat of a rogue AI model wreaking havoc has grown from footnote-level what-if to an active topic of conversation at the highest levels of the industry.
But they now face a powerful opponent: president Donald Trump, who came out this weekend to decry the idea of an AI slowdown.
To Trump, the US is still locked in a bitter international race that seems to override any safety concerns for the 80-year-old head of state.
“We’re leading China in AI, we’re the most sophisticated country in the world, and frankly I want to keep it that way,” he said while attending a golf tournament, as quoted by The Washington Post.
Trump further dug in his heels in a deranged Truth Social post, accusing Amodei of acting like a “perfect little angel” and arguing the US already had “tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies!”

Much of his second presidency has been spent lauding the AI industry, brokering billion-dollar deals, and lowering regulatory barriers, such as Biden-era AI rules and environmental regulations, to appease company leaders.

The White House is back to warring with Anthropic.
On Monday, President Donald Trump lashed out at Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei after Amodei published an essay urging a slowdown in global frontier AI development.

As some of the world’s leading AI executives call for stronger safety checks, US President Donald Trump said on Monday (Sept 14) that the technology already has the protection it needs: him.
Trump dismissed efforts to constrain artificial intelligence as a “SICK conspiracy” and pushed back against industry warnings that increasingly capable systems could become harder for humans to control. Taking to TruthSocial, he posted, “The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!”
The remarks followed a weekend appeal from Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei to slow advances in AI capabilities so that safety measures can catch up. OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Elon Musk have also supported calls for caution.

Jobseekers are increasingly using artificial intelligence to apply for jobs – but leaving AI in charge of your applications could be a hindrance to securing new roles, new research suggests.
Applicants may use AI to fill out forms, write cover letters and answer initial questions, especially if they are applying to multiple organisations.
But one new experiment has suggested this might not be the best use of your time – and could even see you miss out on the role you really wanted.
Job resource site Kickresume set up a test to find the best and worst-performing applications for a series of sales and marketing roles, comparing AI-written CVs to those entirely created by people.
The human-written CV was the most successful, receiving a positive response for almost a third of the 200 applications (31 per cent).

While the US appears to be further away from meaningful AI regulations than ever before, lawmakers certainly have plenty of ideas on how the country could go about setting meaningful rules.
It’s a particularly precarious moment as fears over rogue AI models wreaking havoc and endangering humanity continue to mount.
