Easy way to defeat macrovision??

Does macrovision protection get transmitted through the RGB signals from a DVD player??

If NOT then maybe there's an easy way to backup DVDs to VHS, either by (a) an RGB to S Video / Composite Video convertor or (b) routing the RGB signal into a TV that has S Video / Composite Video output. Of course there will be some loss of quality but hell you can't have everything for free.

Any comments?? (I'm not knowledgeable on this other than maybe the preliminary deductions above).
