Wire size for the project?

I'm trying to build an eprom programmer on perfboard, and I would like to find out what size of wire I should use to make the project not bulky. I'm use 22 AWG for all 5V power line.

I'm planning to use #28 or #30 AWG wire for everything else, but I'm uncertain if the size of wire will be too small to carry enough current, or will lines to interfer with others?
